Although the city is well known as being the Gulf of Mexico administrative headquarters for many oil production, drilling, and service companies, Lafayette has been very successful in diversifying its economy. Technology, manufacturing, research, and healthcare industries have all played vital roles in Lafayette's recent growth and day-by-day more and more industries are beginning to call Lafayette home.

University supporters in the Lafayette area have contributed greatly to establish endowment funds for scholarships, professorships and other enhancements.
The College of Nursing and Allied Health Professions has received many of these generous contributions from health-care industries and the medical profession.
